22nd August, 2013 BACK TO ALL PODCASTS

This week it’s The Beginners’ Guide To Buy-To-Let Mortgages, and we enlisted our good friend Lisa Orme to help us explain:

  • What you can and can’t use a BTL mortgage for
  • How much you can borrow: LTV and rental coverage
  • The boxes you need to tick as a borrower
  • How to choose the best deal (it’s about more than just the interest rate)

If you want to contact Lisa to find out more about mortgages, her website is here.

Rob D also wrote an article about how to make sure you’re mortgageable.

Resource of the week

Our resource this week Focus@will: an app that supposedly uses special music to “get you into the zone” and help you concentrate for 90 minutes instead of the average 30.

Does it work? Rob B seems to think so, but let us know in the comments how you get on with it!

This week’s news

Rob D has lived in city centre holiday lets for over 18 months now, but his lifestyle could be in jeopardy: The Sunday Times reports that cities are cracking down on people renting out their own apartments.

In Berlin, holiday lets are being banned completely from 2015.

If you’re interested in renting out your own place in the UK, Rob D whote a piece about how to stay on the right side of the law while doing so.
